Why heat comes first
Around thirty meibomian glands run along each lid margin. They secrete the oil layer that seals the tear film and slows evaporation, and it is that layer, not the watery one, that usually fails. When the oil thickens and the gland openings block, the film breaks up early and the surface stings, feels gritty, and waters at the wrong moments.
Heat softens what is sitting in the glands. Cleaning the lid margin afterwards clears the openings so it can get out. Reverse the order and you have cleaned the outside of a blocked pipe. What this will not do
- It will not cure anything. Dry eye is managed, not resolved, and a routine is something you keep doing rather than complete.
- It will not work in a week. Give it three to four weeks of near-daily use before you form a view.
- It will not tell you why your eyes are dry. If symptoms are severe, worsening, or came on suddenly, that needs an examination, and this page is not a substitute for one.
- It is not a treatment for macular degeneration, glaucoma, or any other condition, and we have never suggested otherwise anywhere on this site.

- Will this cure my dry eyes?
- No, and nothing sold anywhere will. Dry eye is usually a long-running problem with the oil layer of the tear film, managed rather than cured. What a warm compress and lid hygiene routine offers is comfort, done consistently. If your symptoms are severe or changing, that is a conversation with an eye-care professional, not a purchase.
- How long before I notice anything?
- Give it three to four weeks of near-daily use before you judge it. Warmth and cleaning work on gland function, which changes slowly. Anyone promising a difference in two days is selling you something.
- Why does the order matter?
- Heat first liquefies the oil sitting in the glands. Cleaning second clears the lid margin so that oil has somewhere to go. Doing it the other way round means cleaning a lid whose glands are still blocked.
- How long does delivery take?
- Three to four weeks. Everything ships from Thailand, where the products are made, and it goes by standard airmail. We would rather tell you that plainly than surprise you after you have paid.
- Is this a medical device?
